The need to place implants in the anterior area to replace compromised or missing teeth requires some very important evaluations to be done before beginning the treatment.
In fact, if the therapy plan is not correctly carried out, there is a high risk of not getting a satisfactory esthetic result because of unexpected recessions of the gingival margins and the formation of black triangles between the teeth, due to apical migrations of the interdental papillae. The use of regeneration techniques and the positioning of connective tissue grafts in addition to the insertion of the implants guarantees, when used by expert and skillful hands, a significant reduction of this risk, with predictable esthetic results both in cases of substitution of a single tooth, and in cases of rehabilitation of the complete anterior part. The aim of the prosthodontist must be in every case the optimization of the layout and outline of the 6 anterior teeth, maintaining a suitable dominance of the upper central incisors and a perfect harmony with the surrounding structures, as the lips and the face of the patient.
